Like LookAway, but want a break that checks you looked away?

The reason to switch isn't another notification. Have You Rested Pro can pause your break countdown when you look back at the screen. It can also keep the display on while you read and turn it off when you turn away.

What changes if you switch from LookAway?

LookAway already offers more than a basic timer: blink and posture reminders, custom break experiences, and automatic pauses during calls and video playback. Those alone aren't a reason to replace it. Our focus is the optional camera check and display control.

Keep LookAway if the timer is doing its job

If you rely on its phone companion, custom backgrounds, or break automations, stay with the tool that fits. Have You Rested doesn't import your LookAway settings or replace every feature.

Try Have You Rested if you want to check whether you actually look away during a break, or if your screen keeps going dark while you're reading without touching the keyboard.

Set up breaks without a camera

Verified breaks need camera access. In Pro's Privacy Mode, the camera stays off during normal work and can turn on for a verified overlay break. Full Mode runs detection during work for display control and focus stats. If you prefer no camera access, the free Mac eye-break timer still works.

Detection runs locally. Frames are discarded, not recorded or uploaded. This is a presence signal, not a medical assessment or precise measurement of where you're focusing. Privacy details.

The download includes 5 days of Pro without a card. Pause your existing reminder while testing so two apps don't interrupt you at once. After the trial, timed eye breaks plus blink and posture reminders stay free.

Pro is $29.99 once for up to 2 Macs, $19.99 per year, or $2.99 per month. See what's included. If scheduling is your main concern, also read the Time Out comparison.
